St. Joseph’s Seminary, Yonkers NY
Zaskorski & Associates Architects planned and designed the renovations for St. Joseph’s Seminary and College of the Archdiocese of New York in Yonkers, New York.
The Seminary’s main building was completed in 1896. The building’s program houses classrooms, worship and administrative spaces, and residential units for faculty and seminarians. The scope of work included retrofitting handicap accessibility, fire safety egress, and interior renovations.
What was unique about this project was Z&A’s careful adaptation of current code standards to the existing 1896 conditions. Without undermining the craftsmanship of the late 19th century architecture, Z&A provided new air conditioning and ventilation within the Chapel, while preserving structural integrity and exceptional architecture of the Chapel.
