101 Central Park West, New York NY

This penthouse apartment perched atop of one of Central Park West's historic prewar Art Deco Buildings, by Schwartz and Gross, has breathtaking views of Central Park and Fifth Avenue looking North, East and South, Large terraces and oversized picture windows along Central Park West allow the owner to see the magnificent change of seasons in the park. A primary goal of the design was to create an open and inviting feeling and open flow and progression of space and light moving from the open entry foyer into the various areas of the apartment and by removing encumbering walls bring the vista of Central Park into the apartment. Equally important, as a goal, was expanding the size of the kitchen space in order to create an abundant cooking and entertaining area open to the living room and other areas of the apartment. The design of the apartment was to facilitate extensive entertaining in the apartment with a focus on displaying the owner's extensive art collection to maximum advantage. A private area to be utilized as a home office was also designed to take advantage of the spectacular views this pent house affords of Central Park for the work environment.
